predation is where one organism feeds on another organism. The organism that hunts is called the predator, while the organism that is hunted is called the prey. Prey isn't always exclusively hunted by one predator, the diet of some organisms or the predators of an organism can vary based on the environment or the ecosystem your looking at.
For example, a mouse can be eaten by a an owl or a fox in the forest, but can be eaten by something else in the mountains or in the desert.
Another example of predation is a lion and a zebra. The lion is the predator, hunting the prey, the zebra. Or a fox hunting a hare, the fox is the predator and the hare is the prey.
